10 BIG QUESTIONS FOR CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS!

By Jack Jodell, Feb. 15, 2012

I have ten big questions for conservative Republicans in Congress, the statehouses,  their presidential hopefuls, and their apologists in the mainstream media. I seriously doubt that any of them will be able to provide a truthful answer to these, and I will be amazed if they ever do so, but I will still ask these questions now anyway.

First, WHERE ARE ALL THE JOBS YOU SAID YOU WOULD CREATE? After all, it was YOUR insistence on Wall Street deregulation that got us into the economic mess which caused millions of jobs to be lost in the first place. You promised that if the Republicans regained control of the House in 2010, your first priority would be “jobs, jobs, jobs.” You promised that if the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy were first adopted and then renewed that millions of good-paying new jobs would result. You have opposed President Obama’s every attempt to create new jobs, yet in spite of all that, he has shown a steady 22 momth increase in private sector jobs. HE has succeeded in getting these jobs created, while YOU have done absolutely NOTHING. You have produced not even ONE jobs bill in the past 13 months, and you haven’t even tried. Instead, you have attempted to pass numerous wedge-issue bills, NONE of which have created jobs, and you have focused on further tax breaks for billionaires who don’t need them while trying to get hurting elderly, working, and unemployed Americans to live with less in their wholly necessary entitlement programs. So again, I ask: WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL THE JOBS YOU PROMISED?

Second, WHY DO YOU INSULT VOTERS WITH BALD-FACED LIES ABOUT HOW YOU’VE BEEN A “JOBS CREATOR” WHEN YOUR PAST RECORD PROVES OTHERWISE? The whole world knows how you were all supportive of exporting good-paying American jobs and plants out of the country, and a number of you were actively engaged in doing so! Since when does this qualify you for the title of an American “jobs creator”?

Third, WHY DO YOU CONTINUALLY TRY TO DEMONIZE SEGMENTS OF OUR SOCIETY, SUCH AS GAYS, AND TRY TO INSTILL FEAR IN THE REST OF THE POPULATION ABOUT THEM? If you were in fact genuinely interested in promoting harmony and were sincere in your aim of getting government off of people’s backs, why do you continually use wedge-issues as you do to achieve only discord and state-sponsored denial of people’s basic rights?

Fourth, IF YOU ARE GENUINELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE NATIONAL DEBT, WHY DO YOU NOT SUPPORT A TAX INCREASE FOR THE WEALTHIEST MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY? At a time when 2/3 of the country, a landslide-sized majority, approve such an action, why is it that you have refused to even consider ANY tax increases at all? Also, why do you insist that balancing the budget be done overwhelmingly on the backs of the poor and elderly through cuts to Medicare and Medicaid instead? After all, the wealthy have enjoyed massive tax savings for the past 11 years and have failed to reinvest in this country. Why should they not be the first ones called upon to sacrifice, rather than being allowed to skate by freely?

Fifth, WHY DO YOU GIVE MASSIVE TAX BREAKS TO CORPORATIONS WHO DON’T USE THEM TO REINVEST IN THIS COUNTRY BUT CHOP VITAL AID TO SOCIAL SERVICES AND EDUCATION INSTEAD? You know the majority of these tax savings won’t go toward job creation, and that the only way for this country to compete, prosper, and lead globally in the future is for it to have a thoroughly educated, well-trained work force. Why then do you repeatedly reward huge, profitable corporations at the expense of schools and needed services?

Sixth, WHEN WILL YOU JOIN THE 99% AND GET MONEY THE HELL OUT OF POLITICS? Why do you constantly court big money and try to stamp out labor unions, the only real resource for economic leverage working people have? Why do you repeatedly attend secretive, sneaky, under-the-table meetings sponsored by multi-millionaires like the Koch brothers, whose motives are suspect at best, and who hate government to begin with? When will you agree to campaigns based on honest presentations and discussions of ISSUES, as opposed to relying on crooked SuperPACS to produce lying, negative ads for you about your opponent?

Seventh, WHEN WILL YOU STOP TRYING TO DISENFRANCHISE VOTERS YOU THINK MAY VOTE AGAINST YOU? You know full well that incidences of voter fraud are so small as to be statistically insignificant, yet you press for strict voter ID laws, which would adversely affect the ability of the poor, the elderly, minorities, and students to vote due to their inability to purchase often expensive state-issued ID cards. Not so coincidentally, the large majority of these voters would normally be DEMOCRATIC voters. Would you rather have honest elections, or is attaining power your only real concern here? Regrettably, the answer is blatantly obvious…

Eighth, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DROP THIS NONSENSE ABOUT “CLASS WARFARE”? Lawrence O’Donnell is exactly right when he says that, when you have no defense for establishing a tax code overwhelmingly favoring the rich, you have to come up with a LIE, class warfare, to use against those who oppose it. As if outsourcing good-paying American jobs to much cheaper slave labor markets, destroying labor unions, and cutting or holding down wages and benefits at the same time labor has vastly increased its productivity are NOT blatant examples of aggressive class warfare on YOUR part? Give us a big break, you LIARS, and stop trying to scare the electorate with untruths about class warfare every time working people stick up for their own economic interests by calling for FAIRNESS and a true VOICE in the marketplace!

Ninth, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO STOP FEEDING US FAIRY TALES ABOUT THE WONDERS OF OUR SUPPOSED-“FREE ENTERPRISE” SYSTEM? We all know this very defective economic system we live in is only “free” for those who set the wages and prices, and that everyday workers and farmers are at the mercy of those who control the purse strings. Any leverage working people once had has disappeared with the destruction of labor unions and the rollback of moderating government regulations. The very fact that millions of citizens have literally taken to the streets to protest ever-growing income disparity proves what a glaring FAILURE this corrupted “free enterprise” system has become, as do the millions of foreclosures and the millions of unemployed as well! “Free trade” has become a synonym for lowered wages and exploitation of the very many by the very, very few. Why, then, do you continue to extol its supposed virtues as you do?

Tenth, and last, WHEN THE HELL WILL YOU RIGHT-WING MEDIA PLAYERS STOP CARRYING WATER FOR THE EXPLOITATION-HAPPY 1%? How long before YOU, RUSH LIMBAUGH, and YOU, SEAN HANNITY, and YOU, MICHAEL SAVAGE, and YOU, LOU DOBBS, and YOU, BILL O’REILLY, and YOU, MICHELLE MALKIN, and YOU, GRETCHEN CARLSON, and YOU, GLENN BECK, continue spewing forth lies and distortions and hatred just to serve your corporate masters? Have you no decency or conscience AT ALL?

  1. Good questions all. There’s but one answer, though: They will do whatever they want, the way they want to, as long as their big-money backers keep the money rolling in and voters keep supporting them. Those people have zero interest in governing in the public interest. They are focused 100 percent on maximum money and total power and control. They will say and do anything to get what they want.

  2. JollyRoger says:

See, there is NO accountability in the Rushpubliscum Party. The lobotomized off-products of cousin romances will dutifully trudge to the polls, election after election, and cast votes for the same scum, no matter what they do. Because if they get caught doing something, they is being PERSECUTED!!!!
Since there is no accountability, the Rushpubliscum politician can say whatever the hell he wants to say-he knows nobody will care later.

    • jackjodell53 says:

So true, Jolly Roger. JFK nailed it when he described them as circus elephants, grabbing each other by the tail and blindly parading around in a circle.

  3. Darlene says:

If there is any justice, the next election will be the death knell of the Republican party. They have gone so far over the edge that sane people will never vote for them. Now we shall see if the majority of us can still think. If not, God help us all.

    • jackjodell53 says:

I hope, pray, and believe you will be proven totally correct, Darlene! We can’t take much more of their utter nonsense!

    • Joe Dokes says:

Sadly, you may be proven wrong (at least in the short-term). The republicans are dwindling in numbers as they die off but the ones who are left are feeling like their whole way of living and their way of thinking are disappearing (which are they). That means they will become more vocal, more desperate and unfortunately more dangerous. Put a gun, some alcohol and some vile hate speech into a right-winger and you’ve got the recipe for disaster for the rest of us.

      • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks for stopping by, Joe Dokes. You are probably right, and it looks as if they’ll be dragged kicking and screaming into a new sensibility. May it happen very quickly!

  4. Tom Harper says:

Just by asking these blasphemous questions, you’re exposing yourself as someone who hates free enterprise, hates God, hates America and wants the terrorists to win 🙂

  5. Lisa G. says:

Because they are all fucking nuts and want to keep their ill gotten gains, that’s why.

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Lisa G.,
Good to hear from you again! Sadly, what you say is true. That’s why good people like you, I, and the others on this comments page oppose them so much!

  6. Nice piece, Jack. Here’s a question I have: exactly when did the Health Care Individual Mandate proposal morph from a “free market health care solution” (when it was first proposed by the Heritage Foundation back in the 1990s) into a “Socialist/Communist/Stalinist Government Takeover” of our Health Care system?
Oh, and when will the MSM remind voters of this fact? (I’d bet that fewer than one in 1,000 voters even knows that the Individual Mandate originated with the GOP).
To tell you the truth, I despise the MSM a lot more than I hate Republicans. The GOP wouldn’t be able to get away with their B.S. if the MSM was doing its job. (Can you hear me, Judith Miller?)

    • jackjodell53 says:

Well stated, Marc! I believe the conversion you write about started when the GOP first went off the deep end, about the same time they were furiously wasting taxpayer dollars trying to impeach Clinton. Since that time, they have grown increasingly mean-spirited, intolerant, paranoid, and irrational both in their language and their actions. They ceased being the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower well before even then and have now fallen completely off the political table. These angry bastards should be disbanded and nanned altogether, as they represent a very real danger to the continued existence of our democracy. The MSM have become as sick and irrelevant as the GOP, and are now a waste of a thinking person’s time. Thank God for the alternative news sources we DO have!

  7. Grung_e_Gene says:

Allow me to answer your questions:
    1) Jobs are the most important thing but Obama is hampering Republican attempts. Also Obama’s Campaign against “Real Americans” who cling to their gods and guns is causing us to have to fight him there. We had Nooooooooooo Intention of forcing through a social agenda but Obama pushed their hand.
    2) It’s not lies you’ve just been misinformed by the gotcha Liberal Media.
    3) American Civilization was strongest when certain elements were kept under wraps, with the advent of the 1960’s we’ve been a downward slide ever since.
    4) You could take every last dime from the 1% and it wouldn’t pay the debt.
    5) Social services aren’t going to good americans anymore but welfare cheats and illegal immigrants. Companies would invest in america if we gave them a Zero Percent Corporate Tax rate.
    6) The 99% don’t represent America because Republicans use social issues to fragment the people thus creating division amongst the other classes. Also Money=Speech.
    7) Giving poorer people the power to vote is actually tyranny because they will vote for socialism the theft of rich peoples money and property trumps everything for the Right.
    8) Never because it aids Republicans in dividing the 99% and keeps the 1% in money and power.
    9) Although Republicans claim to support a Free Market what they actually support is a system wherein you think there is a Free Market and they are saved or paid outright by Taxpayer dollars. Profits are Privatized and Losses are Socialized. You’re just not supposed to know about it.
    10) No they have no decency their job is to cause rifts and as these idiots are super rich “working” for hundreds of millions when the protect and defend the 1% they are protecting their self-interest.

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Grung_e_Gene,
Your presentation here amounts to a bunch of very tired, very INVALID assumptions put forth by the far-right media and the wealthy elite. I, sir, read from hundreds of media sources each week, and I can assure you the so-called “liberal media” is a MYTTH perpetrated by propagandistic sources like NewsMax and Fox “News”.I have demonstrated many times the current Republican Party is a reactionary, rather than conservative entity, and has veered very far to the right over the past 30 plus years. If you’re trying to fool me or any of my readers with utter reactionary nonsense, you have failed miserably. You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own twisted non-factual “facts.” End of discussion.

      • Grung_e_Gene says:

        Jack,

Shoot man! I had a problem with my wifi as I posted this. You are precisely correct, these are a bunch of tired invalid mythical assumptions! I posted this as a summation of the right-wing sites I visit and read and from the conservatives who darken my blog.

It is utter Reactionary nonsense but nonetheless it’s what the Right wants to believe and is what they recycle amongst themselves.

        Sorry, I didn’t add the addendum before…

  8. jackjodell53 says:

Hi Grung, and welcome aboard. As I reread your first comments and then checked out your website, I realized you weren’t some sort of right-wing crackpot and that you are actually one of US, who really DOES see the light. As such, I look forward to hearing from you again. Keep up the good work! 🙂

  9. Joe Hagstrom says:

They won’t answer your questions since the republican base of bigots, idiots and homophobes don;t want to hear the truth. Only the lies that affirm their nuttiness.

Sorry about my blog Jack. Circumstances forced me to put it in hiding for awhile at least.

  10. Just offal says:

    Hey Jack Buddy!

These aren’t questions they are queried sermons based on preconceived notions many of which are not much more than pie in the sky. Here’s a clue…any time you reach a point where one side is 100% correct and the other side is 100% wrong….you may be sure that you are now in clueless land.

To be fair there are two or three really good points there above….but the rest of it is wishful thinking and either purposely misinformed or clueless-ly misinformed trash.

You can argue it with me here.

    http://www.politicaljack.com/forums/forum.php

I won’t argue in this place, this forum is set up for pontification to be followed by adoration not real, honest, grass roots discussion.

    Justoffal

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Justoffal,
Call them what you like, but they are based on longterm observations and not mere “notions”. I will not argue with you, as it is not worth my time and would be pointless anyway. Good day, sir.

  11. mike mccracken says:

I don’t think most republican office seekers are as bigoted or stupid as they appear. I think the left misses that. They are merely campaigning in divisive ways, the them versus us program, to instill a feeling of belonging to their followers. When someone feels like they belong to a group they develop a sense of loyalty. So even when the republican office seekers say something against a voter’s best interest, the loyalty remains and the vote remains.
The left does not do this except recently with the Occupy movement. The left is mostly a conglomerate of different interests joined together without a sense of loyalty. Our hope may be that the Occupy movement grows and develops an announced agenda that is just as loyalty creating as the opposition.

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Mike,
Thanks for stopping by. I share your hope for the Occupy movement, and understand your point on Republican office seekers. My only comment would be to castigate them for taking such an insecure and cynically divisive approach to important issues of the day.

  12. Question 11… how the hell is any of us to ever get Gregory, Matthews or any of the others who portray themselves as sympathetic to ever ask any one of these questions?

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Hi Paul,
Thank you for stopping by. It appears you have asked the $64 BILLION question. My thought is that, being employed by the corporate-owned mainstream media, none of them ever will.

  14. Bill says:

About Class Warfare: You’re quite wrong. For the last thirty years congress has been waging a stealth campaign of Class Warfare, shifting the tax burden steadily down the income scale. When someone suggests reversing the process, “Class Warfare” become an epithet.

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Bill,
Very true, and that’s precisely what I was talkung about, how the tax burden has senselessly been shifted away from the wealthy.

      • Bill says:

Point is, the Dems should point out that the Reps have been waging a highly successful Class War for years…just the stealth variety (not strictly true, by the way — Dem politicians have been nearly as guilty). In other words, use the term as a weapon against their opponents instead of getting defensive whenever it is used.

  15. I give up. What are the answers?

    • jackjodell53 says:

      James,
The answers are for the Republican Party to stop cynically lying and trying to fvor the wealthy all the time, and for it to also stop pitting one social group against another.

  16. roberb7 says:

The one about taxes and the national debt is the best one on here. I think the best way of asking it (and why aren’t the bobbleheads doing this?) is, “isn’t it silly to be talking about REDUCING taxes? Do you think that $15 trillion debt is just going to magically disappear?”

    • jackjodell53 says:

      roberb7,
Thanks for your comment. What you say is true, but I think the real aim of the Republicans is to shrink the government to the point where it can no longer regulate business. Then the 1% would have a field day. Tax-hating Republicans are by and large sef-centered anyway, and they errantly equate any rise in taxes to a corresponding massive increase in the size of the federal government.

  17. Baby, YOU NAILED IT~! Great stuff Jack! Valid questions… where’s the beef?

  18. jackjodell53 says:

    AMEN, Gwen!

  19. jackjodell53 says:

    @Bill (above):
EXCELLENT advice, sir! I hope they will take you up on it.

  20. Hello Jack,
How about this for a thought!!!

Mitt Romney is facing a crisis in the next two weeks that he may not be able to overcome, and may doom his Presidential candidacy. Michigan was Romney’s home state, and right now, Santorum is leading in the state of the auto industry which Romney promoted to go bankrupt, and is instead having a major renaissance.

On March 7, he faces challenge from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in Georgia, Gingrich’s home state, and Tennessee and Oklahoma, as well as in Ohio, where Santorum is surging. If Romney cannot win Michigan and Ohio, leading Midwestern states, and Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, major southern and border states, then his candidacy is in its last throes.

As it is, the battle for a majority of delegates at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August is certain now to drag on into the late spring or early summer, not exactly what Mitt Romney believed would happen when he entered the race for the Presidency!

Wouldn’t it be something if the “Republican Main Line Blessed One” flames out due to his past indiscretions coming back to haunt him. What ever will Karl Rove do if he has to try to promote “Wing Nut Ricky” in the Presidential Election? How about trying to come up with who would they team him up with for V.P. Oh what fun!! I feel tingly all over!!

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Hello, Engineer of Knowledge,
You raise a very entertaining possibility. We could very well be witnessing the end of Mitt Romney politically. Wh’da thunk THAT?

  21. Suzan says:

Judy Miller was our first hint, Marc.
And when I read that she was sexually involved with the top Iraqi whom we were ushering into Iraq to rule it for us, I was pretty sure that the game was so far ahead of what reasonable citizens would believe, I really gave up hope for our future then.
And you remember how long ago that was, right? A decade ago at least. I’ve been writing about this trying to expose it to all since then.
When Cheney and Bush were escorted out by the Obamaites and Hillary was ridiculed and then bought off (again), I immediately regretted my good feelings about him and any Dems left.
And they killed Paul outright (because he undoubtedly would have exposed them all eventually), and so many more.
I rarely write about the clown circus because I think Obama is the real clown (and he’s distracted almost everybody who doesn’t watch Fox for its news in order to continue their agenda but with a soothing, calm manner. Today’s announcement about his following up on his purposely-appointed “killing public education” Secretary with a large-scale new effort now is the nail in the coffin for this ex-educator.
I could say a lot more. But I do so at my blog.

    Love you guys!
    S

  22. Suzan says:

    Hey Jack,

Forgot the end paren after the word “news.” And as it follows Fox, it was a little joke.

I’m more and more desperate as the days pass and it looks like we’re moving into Iran and the whole country will start to operate in war mode. With Obama as the war president to confuse the moderates and continue to enrage the righties so they’ll keep everyone up in arms as our country re-arms (yes, even more). And the national police force (I hear) is in place to take care of resisters.

Frightening. Thanks for continuing to give us your opinions on all things we need to know. I love that you were picked up by the other site.

  23. TomDem55 says:

Ask them which carrier group or tax break for oil companies they would give up to reduce the national debt and deficit……………..you will hear crickets and cries of “weak on defense”
    America Haters, traitors ad nauseum…

    • jackjodell53 says:

      TomDem55,
Thanks for your visit here, and I’m glad you called them out for being the true America and government haters, as well as the traitors, these self-centered scoundrels really are!
