I.F. Stone is regarded as having surpassed him, but George Seldes, from 1940 to 1950, was the trailblazer, reporting on stories that advertising-addicted mass media wouldn’t. The cigarette industry in particular hated Seldes. He was the only journalist out there who was linking cigarette smoking with premature death. Now, of course, that’s common knowledge. But back when half the adult population of the U.S. was smoking cigarettes, they were very protective of their profits and despised Seldes.

I need to change the date of our outing because Ry and Angie would like me to watch Ryker on Friday, May 17th. Sorry to have to switch. Could we go to the same seafood place on Friday the 24th same time, or some other day?

Thanks, Max’s Dad. You worshipped a very good man back in college. I was unable to find a video on Amazon, but I did see a number of books by and about him, including” “All Governments Lie: The Life and Times of a Rebel Journalist”, “The Best of I. F. Stone”, “The War Years: 1939-1945 )A Nonconformist History of Our Times”, and “The Hidden History of the Korean War 1950-1951 (A Nonconformist History of Our Times”, for those who wish to delve further. I encourage everyone to do just that!

Hey Jack, I worshiped Izzy Stone back in college in the 70′s.There’s a 1973 documentary everyone should check out sometime. I F Stone’s Weekly. I am really not sure it’s even available on DVD or anything, but if you find it, you’ll see the story of an American hero! Great post again!
